 The Nutbrook Trail

Well it was great to be back out and have missed my hiking sooooo much....
So for the first walk I decided on a stunning local walk along the beautiful Erewash Canal and then hop on to the NutBrook Trail.

It is a flat walk and not like my usual one's of hill walking, but I needed to take it a little easy as my bloody toe was not 100%. But in the end it turned out ok :)
So I dropped down from the town centre and on to the canal, the sun was shining and the ducks and swans were playful. As the sun was beating down on the water with the reflections looking like coloured glass. It was a good start and my soul felt happy and the fresh air reminded me of what I had missed.

As I started to film a couple of middle aged gentleman came past on their bikes and said morning, then proceeded to ask what i was filming. I explained that I do my YouTube videos to not only showcase the Peak District, but to also show you can get to these places via public transport.

Anyway as I walked along enjoying the peace and saying morning to people who were just out for a gentle Sunday morning walk, there was an atmosphere of calm and joy that I had noticed from people.

I then eventually got to Stanton Lock and crossed the canal and on to the NutBrook. The start of this part of the path passes around the edge of the old Stanton Iron works (now various other businesses), but this was fine as it was a Sunday so most of them were closed.
It then started on to more of a trail which kind of reminded me of the Monsal Trail, passing under bridges with banking on either side. It was also as busy as the Monsal Trail with families and couples out taking their dog's for a walk. My day was made when I was approached by a couple of English Cream Labradors (adore these dogs) and I thought to myself this is what life should be about?

Life should be relaxed and people just getting along, not always arguing or stabbing each other.
I felt very lucky to live in such a beautiful county and over the past few months where everything has been thrown at me. I am also very lucky to be alive after my fall, which gave me the kick up the arse i needed.

As i walked towards Straws Bridge pond I decided to have a rest and something to eat. It was particularly quiet as the geese were on speed or something. and the pond sits next to a main road. But it did somehow seem to make me at peace, probably being next to the water and watching the ducks.

I then carried on and finished at the lovely Moorland Flood Nature Reserve.

Overall it was a peaceful walk and good to be back out and ready for more Peak district adventures.

Hope you enjoyed the read.

I am back....

 HAVE YOU MISSED ME??

Well I am back after a prolonged break amongst other things.

It has been an interesting few months to say the least and currently recovering from a bad foot? But this is nothing in comparison to a few months ago? I suffer with high blood pressure and sometimes have a little lul in it when i'm resting (a bit like when you're tired). But as i am going to check the mail in the postbox's in the building entrance. My body decided to do it as I stepped off the step.

In turn hitting my head on all 13 concrete steps... Luckily enough my flatmate heard something and come out to check. The paramedic said another half hour and I would have basically bled to death, so yeah kinda lucky.

So hence why I have decided to go full hog on my hiking whilst I have the free time. And go back to doing my blogs as well as my YouTube videos. The fall has shown me how lucky i have been with this and I should never take life for granted.

So new tent and drone coming soon, and obviously lots more peak District hikes and further beyond to come this year. I am starting back with a fairly local walk along the beautiful Nutbrook Trail and will be doing a blog and vlog for this as soon as my foot is better.

So just a quick one this week.

Thanks for reading and stay safe
